The Parish Choir is comprised of singers from high school age through adults. This is the group that is responsible for the bulk of choral singing during worship. They sing for the 10 a.m. Sunday Choral Eucharist from September through Pentecost as well as additional services such as Lessons and Carols, Holy Week services and Easter Vigil. Rehearsals are on Sundays from 1130 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Listed below are examples of the Congregation and Choir's singing.
This year our children’s/youth choir for children grades 2-early middle school will rehearse on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month from 11:30am-12:15pm in the Choir Room or Sanctuary. Singing in a choir is a fun and phenomenal way to help children develop not only their musical skills, but also team building skills, all the while growing in their relationship with God and engagement in our parish community.
St. Mary’s Gospel Choir is comprised of individuals, from St. Mary’s and the surrounding community, who come together for 6 weeks, four times each year, in preparation for a rousing and spirit-filled Sunday service of Gospel repertoire. They sing a wide range of selections from traditional spirituals such as “I’ve got peace like a river” to the more contemporary as in “Joyful, Joyful” from the movie Sister Act, and even “Baba Yetu”, an adaptation of the Lord’s Prayer in Swahili.
